HSE & Quality

At Ildfast, HSE is our main priority. Regardless of whether you meet us on a construction site or in an office, the principle “HSE first, then operations and finance” always applies. Our HSE and quality policy is rooted in management. Our decision-making and work processes are governed by the ISO standards for quality management and environmental management systems ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. Our policy covers all areas within HSE, as well as customers’ interests.

To prevent any negative environmental impact, we are constantly working to improve our HSE and quality work. This applies to both the performance of our projects and our day-to-day operations. We have a Zero Harm, Zero Error vision: no injuries to people, no damage to the environment and all assignments should be performed correctly the first time. As a preventive measure, we register all nonconformities in our own nonconformity system, specially adapted to our business. HSE and quality are also focus topics at all our internal meetings and audits.

work safely - be safe

We strive to be a leader in Health, Safety and the Environment (HSE) within our sector,
and perform every assignment with the highest degree of safety and quality. We focus on the following:

our eployees are our most important resource

It is important for us to provide our employees with a safe workplace, where the focus is on avoiding injuries and workplace accidents. At Ildfast, every single employee should feel important and enjoy their tasks in an inclusive working environment. A visible and clear HSE leadership, combined with committed employees, is vital to create a safe and pleasant workplace. To have healthy and committed employees, it is also important that each individual feels valued and has the opportunity to develop their skills.

The tools, equipment and techniques we use can expose personnel to noise, vibration and dust. It is therefore important that our employees not only know how the job is to be performed but also what PPE must be worn and the risks involved. All our project managers and fitters have completed the necessary safety courses and training. This, in turn, also protects our customers.

quality and quality assurance

At Ildfast, our quality management system is an integral part of our business – the production, supply and installation of refractory materials – and must ensure continuous improvement of our processes. As part of this policy, we view quality and the environment as a whole, and regard them as crucial elements of a successful business. The quality management system is a matter for everyone, and each individual has a responsibility to follow and improve the activities we perform on a daily basis as they are described in the system. We must also be receptive to and incorporate input, suggestions and nonconformity reports from customers, suppliers and partners, as well as all relevant authority requirements, so that our business structure is viable.

Our deliveries must meet the customer’s expectations. We measure this by following up with our customers after we have made deliveries to them. If we make any mistakes, these must be rectified in the best way possible, and we must then learn from the mistakes in a systematic way. As a customer, you should know what you are getting, every time.

To ensure that all our suppliers have sound HSE systems and HSE policies, we require them to sign up to our code of conduct. We also check all safety data sheets, as well as the content of chemicals. By choosing suppliers who continually develop and improve their products, we ensure a high focus on improved HSE for the user.

environment

We work with an industry that is responsible for considerable emissions, but we must help work for a greener future through our choices. We will systematically endeavour to reduce our environmental impact through a relative reduction of energy, waste and emissions. An important part of this work is to be Eco-Lighthouse certified. This certification also involves meeting specific requirements in the areas of working environment, waste/recycling/reuse, energy, procurement and transport. Every year we report figures for our activities in a carbon account, plus results and statistics. This information provides a clear overview of our progress and potential for improvement, and is made publicly available.

Our partners and other stakeholders are invited to provide input on how the climate and environmental impact of our services can be improved.
